GLYCOLIC ACID

What it is

It is the smallest and best known of the alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). It has no color or smell and it is highly soluble in water. It is a natural product extracted from sugar cane, sour grapes, sugar beets, citrus fruits, pineapple and melon.

How it works

Thanks to its particularly small structure, it is able to penetrate efficiently the layers of the skin and to debilitate the bonds between the cells, activating the mechanisms that regulate the energetic cellular metabolism, both at the keratinocyte and fibroblast levels. Furthermore, it facilitates the cells removal from the stratum corneum, guaranteeing an effective exfoliating action.
